Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 often referred to professionally by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In October 2016 Ari Lennox debuted her debut EP Pho. The EP was where she gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio release was May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox posted her music to the internet in 2012, when she dropped her the Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox dropped her single Bound, as well as her self-released mixtape Five Finger Discount. In the year 2015, she performed in Omen's Elephant Eyes album on Sweat it out on July 21st. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew at that time and wanted her to perform on Rihanna references. On December 8 it was revealed that she had signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat, a track she sang together with Cozz in the Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. In October 2016 the singer-songwriter released her debut EP Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and performed as an opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in the year 2017. In 2018 she guest-starred on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang in the video for Nothing but the Best. And Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first track Whipped Cream on Shea Butter Baby on July 16. The music video was followed by a video in September. In November, she dropped the singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. The 13th of November, she released two more singles called No One or Pedigree. Then she appeared in the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track titled Shea Butter Baby on November 16, and it was released as a single on February 26, 2019 for her debut album the same name. In February of 2019 a music video was released to promote the song. It has already received more than 3 million hits on YouTube within its first week. In December 2018, she was part of the From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which featured 6LACK.
